I used to prefer Hardy Boys over Nancy Drew when I was young. In fact, I felt getting caught reading Nancy Drew, a girly story book, was shameful! Now I don't like Hardy Boys as much. There are too many stories where the stakes are too high. To be left to a couple boys from a backwater town to save the day, that's stretching my sense of plausibility. Also, there are too many high tech gadgets that are just too convenient.
Note: only the first 58 books are considered to be the original series, but I included 66 in my list. This is purely because they are in the same blue hard-cover format.
