The Booklet (centerfold)

First created on 5th May 2003.

Because I wanted to fill the booklet as much as possible in the frame, and make it more-or-less flat, I had to shoot almost straight down. As a result, I blocked part of the light. You can see that the bottom part of the booklet is darker. I knew I blocked the light, but I didn't think it was so bad until I saw the print. Now I know why people say you need a ring flash with a 50mm macro lens.

I was unable to keep the booklet flat, so at f/2.8, part of the page has to be out-of-focus. (Without the use of tripod, the shutter speed is constrained to above 1/30 to avoid camera-shake.) Yuriko is out of focus. This is more obvious on the 4R print.

Other flaws: the booklet is at a slight angle; there is a small gap in the paper at the bottom right.

Lens Minolta AF 50mm f/1.4. Aperture f/2.8. Shutter speed 1/60.
